Foreign Exchange Trading Desktop Interface Design

A leading wealth management firm was in the process of integrating broker entered foreign exchange orders with its F/X trading platform. The solution quickly needed a foreign exchange trading desktop design which provided real-time trade and P&L in a user friendly manner.

Approach

A Markets Technology & Compliance consultant led team rapidly assessed and designed a robust F/X trading desktop interface. Working under a compressed timeframe, the team:

• Captured key trade, book, blotter, rate, currency pairs, and other data requirements

• Prepared three interface design versions

• Enhanced targeted design through iterative releases

• Prepared technical specifications to assist in rapid implementation by the development team

The solution needed to maintain consistency with the client’s wealth management desktop design guidelines.

Results

The final design was delivered in three weeks, and was rapidly incorporated into the integrated solution. Brokers found the common look and integration of F/X activity with equities and fixed income trading into the common platform to be efficient and a client service improvement.
